Dutch Billionaire John de Mol Builds 3% Stake in Delta Lloyd - Bloomberg Business

Dutch billionaire John de Mol holds a 3 percent stake in Delta Lloyd NV, the insurer that plans to raise as much as 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in a rights offer.
De Mol held 7.2 million ordinary shares of Delta Lloyd as of Feb. 2, according to a Wednesday filing on the website of Dutch market regulator AFM. The filing didn’t disclose how much De Mol paid for the shares.
At Tuesday’s closing price of 5.17 euros per share, De Mol’s stake is valued at about 37 million euros. Delta Lloyd was trading 3.5 percent higher at 5.37 euros at 10 a.m. in Amsterdam.
Delta Lloyd, the worst-performing stock on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange last year, plans the rights offer in March to bolster capital to meet new regulatory standards. Martijn Donders, a spokesman for Delta Lloyd, declined to comment on De Mol’s investment.
De Mol, a television producer known for creating one of the first reality-TV shows with “Big Brother,” sold his television company Talpa Media BV for $1.2 billion in March. Delta Lloyd bought Cyrte Investments, an investment-management company founded by De Mol, for an undisclosed amount in 2007.
