EU Task Force Has No Inspectorial Role
Head of the EU Task Force for Greece, Horst Reichenbach, declined that his team intents to inspect Greek government, speaking at the sidelines of an event, organized by the Greek-German, Greek-French and Greek-Italian Chamber.
“We came to help Greece implement reforms that would change the country’s economy”, said the head of a Task Force, which was formed at the request of the Greek PM.
“We have a mandate to help accelerate the absorption of European funds and offer technical support to implement reforms”, Reichenbach stated.
The EU executive admits that the first priority is to tackle the major problem in financing businesses and referred to the important role that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development could play.
The second issue is to boost business environment and provide support to areas that could contribute to development, such as tourism, RES, agricultural sector and exports, he said.
Reichenbach also said that he is impressed by the program that the Greek government is about to implement, stating that Europe has not acknowledge adequately what Greece has achieved recently .
