(Reuters) - Apple Inc's quarterly revenue smashed Wall Street expectations for at least the 9th straight quarter, driven by blockbuster sales of its hot iPhones and iPads.

The largest U.S. technology company by market value said fiscal third-quarter revenue rose to $28.57 billion, trouncing the average analyst estimate of $24.99 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

(Reuters) - Yahoo Inc's net revenue declined slightly in the second quarter on weakness in its display advertising business, and shares of the Internet search company dropped roughly 2 percent in after-hours trading.

Yahoo reported net income of $237 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with $213 million, or 15 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter.

The company forecast third-quarter net revenue, which excludes the fees that Yahoo pays to partner websites, of between $1.05 billion and $1.1 billion.

Yahoo is one of the most popular destinations on the Internet and a leading provider of online display ads in the United States, but the company is facing increasing competition from social networking service Facebook and continuing pressure from search leader Google.

Yahoo said net revenue in the second quarter was roughly $1.1 billion, compared with $1.13 billion in the year-earlier period

(Reuters) - Bank of America Corp reported a record quarterly loss -- $8.8 billion -- as low interest rates squeezed lending margins at the largest U.S. bank.

The loss was widely expected after the bank said in June it settled with mortgage bond investors for $8.5 billion and was taking more than $14 billion of other home loan-related charges in the quarter.

But the bank's results, including its shrinking interest income, underscore the difficulties Chief Executive Brian Moynihan faces even if the bank moves past its mortgage problems. The bank's shares were down 2.8 percent, or 28 cents, at $9.44 in midday trading.
